The Colac Vets had a small field of 12 riders for their club race.

Riders raced in cold and wet conditions.

The field was split into five bunches with lone scratchman Tony Luppino having to give a big three and a half minute start to the next bunch of four riders and 34 minutes out to the two limit riders Des Read and Sue Theodore.

The ten minute bunch trio having a six and a half minute start on the second scratch bunch was enough to hold them off at the finish.

Gavin O’Brien who only started with the Colac Vets in April this year claimed his first win finishing clear of his co markers.

Rebecca Luppino finished in second with Gerard Hickey in third place.

David Coventry led in the second scratch foursome with Tony Luppino coming in 2 minutes 47 seconds behind the winner to take fastest time.

The Colac Vets had a field of 17 riders for their club race.

Riders raced in cold and windy conditions.

The field was split into six groups with the scratch duo giving a four-and-a-half-minute start to the next bunch of four riders and 35 minutes out to the two limit riders Des Read and Sue Theodore.

The 7.30-minute bunch of three riders had splintered with the underdone John Lee dropping off early and then Gavin O’Brien losing contact with David Coventry coming over the Alvie hill with 26Km still remaining.

Coventry went on alone to reel in the three front bunches.

Limit rider Des Read was the last to be caught by Coventry with 4km to go.

Heading up and over Lineen’s hill Gerard Hickey, who was the only one to stay with Coventry, dropped away.

David Coventry went on to take his first win and monthly medal since joining the Colac Vets this year.

Gerard Hickey held on for second place 15 seconds later.

Heather Hamling led in the second scratch bunch another 5 seconds later for third place.

The scratch duo finished 39 seconds behind the winner with Tony Luppino leading in Grant Oates to take fastest time.

The Colac Vets had a field of 34 starters for the Ted Taylor Memorial.

Seventeen Colac riders competed with five riders from Warrnambool and twelve riders from Geelong.

Riders raced in cold conditions with strong westerly winds.

The field was split into seven bunches as well as lone limit rider Des Read out on the 40-minute mark.

The field was still evenly spread out at the 23Km mark as the riders came around the Coragulac corner for the first time and headed toward the Alvie hill for the second time.

The four remaining scratchmen then proceeded to pick up the next four bunches by the time they came back to the Coragulac corner 21 km later.

As they crested the Alvie hill for the third time, only Nick Brown from the second scratch bunch was left to stay with the four scratchmen.

With 6km to go these five riders passed the leading riders from the front three bunches.

Heading up and over Lineen’s hill to the finish line the five riders prepared for the sprint.

Geelong’s Nick Brown jumped away first, but was passed by Warrnambool’s Tim Reddick, who just held off Colac’s Tony Luppino by the width of a tyre to take the win and fastest time.

The Colac Vets had a field of 18 riders for their club race.

Riders raced in cold conditions with clear skies and no wind.

The field was split into six groups with lone limit rider Terry Robinson getting a 24-minute start on the three scratchman and 6 minutes on the four riders behind him.

Robinson was caught by the 18-minute foursome at the 12Km mark and went on to stay with Noel Symons and Bruce Roberts after Erich Gstrein and Ian MacKay had dropped off the pace.

Further back the 14-minute trio had splintered with Gerard Hickey going it alone to finally get across to the three leaders with 7Km remaining.

Meanwhile after losing Darren Allan, the remaining two scratchmen caught the second scratch foursome at the 37Km mark and then the third scratch trio a couple of kilometres later.

Coming in to the factory road finish line, Noel Symons comfortably won the sprint ahead of Gerard Hickey, Bruce Roberts and Terry Robinson to take his first win since October 2015.

Tony Luppino led in the rest of the riders to take fifth place just over a minute later and take fastest time over co marker Grant Oates.

This week the club will host the Ted Taylor Memorial with a 10am start.
